What is a Spagyric?
A spagyric is more than an herbal extract. It is a collaboration with life, not an extraction from it. They are a living ritual of transformation that mirrors the cycles of compost and the cosmos.
Born from the ancient art of alchemy and nourished by the understanding that moved us as a species for thousands of years— nature is alive, intelligent, and divine. Spagyrics are herbal preparations that reunite all parts of a plant—its body, its spirit, and its soul—after a process of sacred separation and recombination.
The word spagyric comes from the Greek words spao (to separate) and ageiro (to recombine). This was the essential teaching of a Spagyrist who believed that plants held not only physical healing compounds but also led their own spiritual and mental lives.
Where modern pharmacology isolates and extracts, spagyrics return us to wholeness. They are rooted in the Hermetic axiom solve et coagula — to dissolve, to reunite — mirroring how nature decomposes, transforms, and reweaves life over and over again.
Spagyrics are expressions of the living intelligence of the Earth. They are ecological not just in ingredients but in philosophy: they treat plants, minerals, metals, shells— all things that are living and from nature— as beings with body and spirit, not commodities. Making a spagyric is more akin to fermentation or gardening than pharmaceutical processing, and the process is accessible to all people. It is an ancestral lineage.
How a Spagyric is Made
Each spagyric is created through an alchemical process that honors the Tri Prima—the three essentials found in all living things:
Sulfur (Acidic) – the soul, carried in the aromatic oils & VOC’s.
Mercury (Neutral) – the spirit, held in the alcohol that extracts and preserves
Salt (Alkali) – the body, mineral salt electrolyte aspect. Calcined from the ash of the plant’s physical form, then purified and crystalized.
These three are separated, purified, and then reunited. It’s a process that echoes the compost pile and the stars—fermentation, distillation, fire, and mineral rebirth.
Fermentation: The plant is often tinctured or allowed to ferment naturally, extracting its volatile spirit and aromatic essence.
Distillation: The spirit is refined, distilled, and clarified—like the breath of the plant rising skyward.
Calcination: What remains—leaf, root, or flower—is reduced to ash in the heat of fire. This ash is leached to reveal its mineral salts, which are then crystallized: the bones of the plant, its crystalline memory.
Reunification: Finally, all parts are brought back together—the soul, the spirit, and the purified body—creating a medicine that is whole, holy, and bioavailable to both body and psyche.
Why Spagyrics? A Return to Sacred Ecology
In the spagyric process, compounds are created, extracted and reintroduced back into the medicine that creates a more effective and potent extract. Through our labors of love, we take all parts of the plant, in a phytochemistry lens and create true full spectrum extracts that have a pH balance that is more aligned with your natural pH, allowing you to access more while your body does less.
Spagyric medicine reminds us that health is not just chemical balance but relational harmony. These preparations work not only on the physical body, but on the energetic and emotional layers as well. They are an offering—both to the human taking them, and to the plant who is now carried forward in a new, luminous form.
From the earth, for your body.
